Johnny Pate - Constant Wind

Chicago soul jazz coming from Producer/Arranger/Bassist Johnny Pate.
Pate is most likely known for his score work on the 1973 blaxploitation flick Shaft In Africa but was also involved with artists such as The Impressions, Sam Cooke, Stan Getz, Walter Jackson & Muddy Waters to name a few. Furthermore, he wrote, produced & arranged for the Chess, OKeh, King, Curtom labels etc. Below is a track from his 1970 album Outrageous featuring a stella 13 piece orchestra of some of the finest session musicians in jazz at the time.

Al Kent - Come Back Home

Keeping in theme of the previous post here's a track I usually find myself dropping when I'm rocking disco/house sets. It was released last year on the BBE release "Secret Sounds" (previously white label 2002 release) and MAN, Al Kent & The Million Dollar Orchestra/Strings have got it going on! I just recently picked up the original on wax which is from Detroit native J J Barnes. A great throwback to that authentic disco vibe but completely modern at the same time. Be sure to check their Million Dollar Disco blog & bandcamp

FRANK BOOKER x JEWEL SCHOOL

Jewel School mans dem doinit big on a Saturday alongside the one Frank Booker..
Here's the skinny

On Saturday 14 August at Mighty Mighty, join the Jewel School and special guest Frank Booker (Hit It & Quit It/Wonderful Noise) as they pay homage to the hedonistic heyday of New York disco, an era when the pantheon of pioneering club DJs – the likes of David Mancuso, Francis Grasso, Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles and Nicky Siano – reigned supreme; when music was the message and love saved the day.

Give it up and turn it loose for a Mighty midwinter mix-up. $5 on the door. See you on the floor!

Sounds pretty sick to me!!

Christoph El Truento - EP01

Jonny Miller

I happened across a Jonny Miller tune on an old Benji B mix and decided to dig for more. Turns out the guys' hustle is very strong! Check out his page where he is offloading all his beats at very reasonable price --> http://jus.ithinkmusic.com/my-store/index.php
Quality broken soul bizness harking back to the halcyon days of 4hero, Domu and the like. Still sounds fresh as fuck and makes my head bump nicely on the train to work.

Heres a couple of tunes from his Soundcloud which is worth a check as well. Shuffle up!
